Investors in Western Kenya have been challenged to build more hotels that will provide accommodation to visitors.
Speaking on Thursday after inspecting hotels in Kisumu, hospitality and accommodation expert Nick Stima denied claims that western region lacked proper and accommodative hotels though noting that more accommodations need to be built.
He emphasised that a growing hospitality industry will help support devolution as it will cater for tourists and locals visiting the region.
He further challenged the county government to set up a catering institutional that will help improve service delivery in hotels in the region.
“We need to highly invest in building more hotels. This would attract external investors as they would have convenient places to stay.
He further noted that investing in hotels will solve accommodation problem in the region and thus leading to reduction in cost of accommodation.
