We have enough water for the AEZ Industrial Park, the County Government of Uasin Gishu has affirmed.
This follows an establishment made on Monday when four of the County Executive Committee members (CeC) toured water facilities surrounding the industrial park to assess the availability of water to be used at the park as soon as the construction of the factories start and for the use during the continuous functioning of the industry.
Accompanied by DL Group Manager and AEZ Site manager, CECs Dr. Emily Kogos (ICT, Trade, Industrialization and ICT), Mary Njogu (Water and Environment), Eng. Nelson Maritim (Lands and Physical planning) and Eng. Gideon Birir (Roads, transport and Infrastructure) visited Kerita and Plateau dams where they confirmed that the two facilities are viable and will easily supply water to the park through gravity.
This comes amid county’s department of Environment, water, Natural Resources, Tourism and wildlife management embarking on disilting all the dams across the county in order for them to increase water provision to the people.
Speaking during the tour, the Trade CeC Dr Kogos said that they are only waiting for the necessary scrutiny of plans and approvals of various documents that are crucial to see the project through.
On her side, Water CeC said that her department will work round the clock to ensure that the park is fully supplied with water, noting the county’s plan to provide water to all the households which now puts the Industrial park as one of the priorities in providing water services.
As the park is a special Zone, Eng. Nelson Maritim (Planning CeC) said that his department will ensure that the areas surrounding the park are well planned and given a special kind of physical planning that will favour the industrial processes.
Roads CeC said his department is working with the relevant National Government Authorities to ensure that all the roads leading to the park are put up to the standards.
