Investors have called for a crisis meeting to discuss the increased cases of land disputes.
Over 10, 000 title deed owners are set to meet in Athi River, Saturday, Machakos County to agree on the way forward following incessant cases of land grabbing.
According to some investors, land grabbers have taken over their land, subdivided themselves and sold to a section of unsuspected buyers.
They have also reported increased incidences of gangs destroying houses that belong to the rightful owners. This move is meant to pressurize the Lands Cabinet Secretary Jacob Kaimenyi to probe the rising land disputes.
“During the meeting this Saturday, we will explore all avenues towards ending this mess. We will converge at our old offices in Kamulu,” said Mr John Mutisa, who represents affected land owners.
The members have alleged that they sent several letters to National Land Commission, the Ministry of Lands as well as the Ministry of Interior but nothing is forthcoming.
“With over 10,000 title owners of between 1/8 and 5-acre parcels, our land is increasingly becoming a target of grabbers,” added another land owner.
The aggrieved investors want to have a meeting with Kaimenyi to decide on the way forward.
