Counties have been urged to involve the public whenever they are initiating development plans.
Kiambu senator Kimani Wamatangi said if counties will seek public input when initiating projects there will be no one opposing the projects.
“Governors and MCAs should seek public views when coming up with development projects to ensure the projects do not get opposed by locals,” Wamatangi said on Thursday in Juja sub-county.
Wamatangi added that elected leaders who will fail to involve the public will have challenges in developing their areas.
He said senators will be more vigilant to ensure funds sent to counties are well utilized to develop the counties.
“Development funds won’t be embezzled under the watch of the Senate. Funds that will be sent to counties should be used appropriately to improve the livelihoods of the people,” he added.
