Kong'asis residents in Eldoret want the Independent Police Oversight Authority (Ipoa) to utilise local media in sensitising residents about their role to expand their reach.
The residents say that most residents may not get the opportunity to attend road shows and therefore, creating awareness via their local media outlets will be a convenient way of reaching them quickly.
"Some residents may not see any importance of attending road shows and may even find it a waste of time," said Jackson Kibet, a resident.
Rosemary Meli says that the 'Nyumba Kumi' Initiative could be used as a way of passing information to the residents at the grassroots. "In some communities 'Nyumba Kumi' has worked well with its leaders always working closely with the people.
It will be good if Ipoa collaborates with them in sensitising the public," she said.
They, however, commended the authority saying that if more information is brought to the grassroots residents would be able to take advantage of the role the authority plays.
