The acts are usually carried out by seniors in the name of job promotion.

Speaking during an IPOA workshop at TAC Centre on Tuesday to sensitise the public on its mandate, Ntoyai said that most cases they are handling involve senior police officers asking for sexual offers for a woman police officer to be promoted.

"We are investigating over 800 complaints filed by women police officers against their seniors for sexually harassing them in the name of job favours such as not being taken to hardship areas and also promises of big posts in the police service. Soon they will be arrested and prosecuted for the same," she said.

She reiterated that IPOA has set up a committee which is mandated to deal with sexual harassment cases among women police officers.

"I urge women police officers not to stay mum and report any senior police officer wanting sexual favours for them to be promoted. Stern action will be taken against," she added.
