The Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA) has started investigating the killing of two children during post poll protests.

Police have denied these claims terming them unsubstantiated allegations.

Stephanie Moraa, 9, was allegedly killed by a stray bullet in Mathare slums in Nairobi while playing on the balcony. The bullet that killed the girl is said to have been from the police manning protesters in the area.

Another victim, 6-month-old Samantha Pendo, died on Tuesday this week following injuries she sustained during the protests. She had been admitted at the Aga Khan hospital in Kisumu before succumbing.

According to her parents, Pendo was hit on the head by a police officer.

IPOA officers have been deployed to the affected areas to commence investigations with Kenyans calling for a speedy and thorough investigation.
