Independent Police Oversight Authority (IPOA) now says it is yet to establish any incriminating evidence against police officers over brutality during the post election skirmishes witnessed after the August 8 general election.
The skirmishes were reported in areas perceived to be NASA strongholds after the announcement of the presidential results.
Chairman Macharia Njeru has acknowledged that the investigations had faced hurdles due to lack of witnesses and proper documentation of reports from other investigative agencies.
"We do not have any evidence to confirm that police officers killed civilians during the post-election protests. Our investigation teams are digging into the matter but we are experiencing challenges with our witnesses," Mr Macharia confirmedParts of Nyanza and Nairobi witnessed violent protests after President Uhuru Kenyatta was declared the winner while NASA's Raila Odinga came second.
