Pollster Ipsos Synovate has been compromised to create a perception to Kenyans that Cord leader Raila Odinga's popularity is on the decline, Nyamira leader of majority Laban Masira has said.
The pollster has been subjected to criticism by the opposition over its alleged skewed opinion polls.
On Tuesday, Ipsos chairman Tom Wolf defended the integrity of the surveys at a press conference where the latest opinion polls showed that at least 35 per cent of Kenyans want Raila to bow out of politics.
And Masira on Tuesday accused the research firm of being compromised by the government to create a non-existing perception about the real mood on the ground.
“Synovate has lost credibility because of going to bed with Jubilee government. The company is just targeting to create a non-existing perception that Raila is weak contrary to what we see and hear on the ground,” he said.
“We cannot allow a situation where someone is compromised to make a conclusion based on bias and malice. The company should honourably quit from the business because we no longer trust them. They have never shown how they arrive at some inferences. Raila remains the candidate to beat,” he added.
However, minority leader Jason Mogusu defended the results saying the opposition was losing grip and the outcry was as a result of panic.
“Opposition is simply losing grip and whatever we are getting from pollsters is real. Let them just ignore it at their own peril. As the government, our service delivery betters everyday and that is why many people are expressing their confidence in us,” he said.
