Geoffrey Matheri, alias Fongo aka vampire is nursing injuries after irate members of the public attacked him moments after being released from prison.
Matheri has been facing several counts of murder but the court released him due to insufficient evidence.
He was arrested in 2008 after he allegedly murdered several people and buried them under his bed. He also drained blood from his victims’ body and drunk as they watched in horror.
When he was arrested, he confessed having murdered several people claiming a pastor had ordered him to carry out the murders and take to him his victims’ privates.
Matheri was attacked when he had reportedly gone to Rwanyambo to visit his family.
He was rushed to Naivasha sub-county hospital.
According to sources, Matheri has been fearing for his life since his release after a public outcry.
“He spent three days in the house saying he was afraid of being seen by people,” a source said.
“When he got out of the house in the evening he was attacked by a mob and gravely hurt. He says he was hit on the head by a police officer but we cannot confirm that,” the source added.
