Matatu and Bodaboda operators joined the protest after the residents vowed not to let any vehicle to use the road till they are addressed by Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KERRA) and the area MP Paul Koinange.

They have also proceeded to plant banana stems on the many potholes on the road saying it deserves to be turned into a Shamba.

"We will not leave this road till the time the relevant authority and our area MP come here to tell us when this road will either be constructed afresh or get repaired,” said Simon Wanjau, a resident.

Paul Muiruri, a driver plying the route said, “We cannot be paying huge taxes yet we cannot have bad roads year in year out. This road has caused us huge losses as we are always in the garage repairing our vehicles.”

The residents told Journalists at the scene that the road has become impassable, especially with the ongoing heavy downpour.

"It is a nightmare using this road during this rainy season. One can be made to think that there is no government representing this area,” said Moses Maina, a Bodaboda Operator.

The protest took the better part of the day as residents waited for the relevant authorities to come and address them.
