Opposition Chief Raila Odinga was on Sunday embarrassed in his Bondo backyard when he attempted to drum up support for Siaya governor Cornell Rasanga.
Trouble ensued after the NASA presidential candidate called on the locals to reject independent candidates and instead embrace the six-piece voting pattern during the forthcoming polls.
“Do not embarrass me, ensure that our team comprising of Governor, Senator, Women representative, MP and MCA are one team,” the former premier pleaded with the locals amid heckling and jeering from a group of irate youths.
Rasanga is facing stiff competition from Rarieda MP Nicholas Gumbo as he seeks to recapture the seat.
The County Chief beat the lawmaker during the ODM Party primaries to win the opposition party's ticket.
Despite contestation of the results from Gumbo, ODM awarded Rasanga the nomination certificate.
The legislator cited massive electoral malpractices during the primaries.
He will be looking to unseat the governor as an independent candidate.
