Inter Religious Council of Kenya national chairman Adan Wachu said they have had conversations over the mediation process.

“As the chairman I can report that we had discussed the matter but it did not materialise. I want to assure you that we are going to pick up the conversation and bring the two on the table,” he said.

Mr Wachu said the idea has been picked up to moderate between the government and the opposition to find a common ground over the matter.

Speaking to the press in Kisumu on Thursday, Wachu said religious leaders are best placed to guide the country through dialogue.

“As religious leaders we have the capacity to talk to the opposition and the government over the matter and reach out a consensus,” he said.

Anglican Archbishop Eliud Wabukala who was present said religious leaders are competent to guide the dialogue process.

Wabukala said the political leaders are capable of meeting and ironing out the sticking issues through a structured manner.

“These people are my friends, those in the opposition and in the government. Nothing is difficult to solve,” he said.

He said religious leaders will not let Kenyans down in their effort to bring harmony and peace in the country.
