The Member of Parliament for Kiharu Irungu Kangata has called on Kenyans to relax and let the government get to the bottom of the Afya House scandal where a sum of Sh5bn was allegedly siphoned to individuals' pockets.
Speaking to NTV during an interview on Sunday, Kangata said the matter was being investigated and that no money had been lost.
"I think the country is over-reacting on this whole issue. It would be in order to let the government investigate the whole matter before a conclusion is reached. For now, I think no money has been lost at Afya House and the whole matter would be checked into," said Kangata.
The Kiharu MP also claimed that the whole issue was schemed at defaming the President Uhuru Kenyatta and that there was no evidence on the loss of the money.
However, an audit recently showed that the money could not be accounted for and that the Sh5bn could not be traced.
