Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa's political journey has been a long one. From a councillor to a women rep and now to an MP, the firebrand politician has seen it all.She may not be in the same political class as Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho and his Kilifi counterpart Amason Kingi, but Jumwa has made some significant steps to political greatness.With President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto struggling to contain the ever-rising Joho's political influence, the two could be faced with another monumental task, cutting Jumwa into size.For a woman who does not shy away from taking her critics head-on, Jumwa is in her own political class and she could be on her way to the 'iron ladies' club.Once arrested over alleged hate speech, the emboldened lawmaker has never looked back.Just recently, she nearly did the unthinkable when she vowed to ensure that NASA leader Raila Odinga is sworn in as President of Kenya during the launch of Coast region's People's Assembly in Kilifi. This is despite warnings by Attorney General Githu Muigai that anybody who will take part in the illegal swearing in will be charged with treason.The lawmaker's move highlighted her fearless character which has defined her political life.Raila himself is understood to be a great fan of the vocal MP who has earned herself the 'dume jike' name from her supporters because of her combative style of politics.
