Reachout Centre Trust Executive Director Taib Abdulrahman is expected to join elective politics in 2022.Taib has been fronted as the best candidate to take over from Mvita MP Abdulswamad Shariff Nassir who has already declared interest in the Mombasa governor seat come 2022.Speaking at a public forum in Mvita on Monday, Taib said joining politics was not a bad idea as it gives one a chance to empower their fellow community members.“I have not declared any political interest, but it’s not a bad thing since if we youth actively venture into politics, we will also empower our fellow young people through representation,” said Taib.Taib has been actively involved in politics as he campaigned for Nassir and Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho in the just concluded August 8 polls.“Since one has an upper hand in helping the community while in an elective post, it’s not bad to venture into politics but only time will tell,” said Taib.“I think politics in our country is slowly changing to issue based, youth should not lag behind but fight for elective post, and we need adequate representation,” he added.
