Following many weeks of unending sibling rivalry with Senator Hassan Omar for the Wiper ticket to contest the Mombasa governor seat, Nyali MP Hezron Awiti is said to have hinted at ditching the Kalonzo Musyoka-led party.Speaking on Thursday, Awiti claimed that there are underhand deals within the party to deny him the party ticket ahead of the August polls.Despite declaring that he will not decamp from the party, the lawmaker seems to have left his options open.“You are cheating yourself. I am not leaving Wiper but I am ready for anything. If Wiper brings nonsense, I will stand as Jobo Jobo (his nickname),” said Awiti, as quoted by The Star.Awiti who has roped in the County Speaker Thaddeus Rajwayi to his side as he ups his stakes to edge his bitter rival in the race for the party ticket, dismissed the recent endorsement of Omar by a section of Wiper leaders in Mombasa. With both Awiti and Omar ruling out the possibility of playing second fiddle to one another in the race to unseat the incumbent Governor Hassan Joho, chances of one bolting out of the party are now high if the lawmaker’s latest statement is anything to by.
