Nyali MP Hezron Awiti on Tuesday asked his supporters to be patient as he charts his next move after ditching the Wiper party.Awiti said his decision to dump Kalonzo Musyoka arose from the fear that Wiper nominations for Mombasa governorship would not be free and fair."My committee is handling the matter. Let's be patient. So many parties have approached me wanting my candidacy," Awiti told journalists in Mombasa.Unconfirmed reports, however, say the MP could be headed for the Vibrant Democratic Party. The MP was expected to face off Senator Omar Hassan for the Wiper ticket in the race to unseat Governor Hassan Joho in this year's general election.According to the Star, Awiti claimed there were plans to deny him a ticket either through a NASA deal for joint primaries or the consensus method. He said his team has been waiting for the party to respond to their concerns on the nominations in vain.“For the last four years I have served Wiper diligently and committed myself to it. I have spent a fortune. We have been waiting for a response on nominations but none has been forthcoming,” the MP added.Awiti is said to have held several meetings with his strategists over the weekend to plan his political future. He will officially quit as Wiper national treasurer on Wednesday. If elected Governor, Awiti has promised to champion unity as well as end one-party rule in the county.
