With the recent drought experienced across the nation, the government through Agriculture  Cabinet Secretary Willy Bett is promoting the growth of cassava all over the country.

The new campaign will be focused in areas where maize was grown in large scale.

They are promoting awareness to farmers on the advantages of the crop for them to take it up as farming.

This is set to fill in the gap that has been left in the country in terms of food due to the lowest production of maize that the has ever been seen in the past 8 years.

It might as well replace Kenya's staple food due to its drought resistant nature. Countries like Uganda have cassava as their staple food,Kenya hopes to make the same out of the crop.
