Speculations are now emerging that Narc Party leader Charity Ngilu is considering abandoning  her bid to unseat Kitui governor Julius Malombe in the August 8 general election.

According to sources, Ngilu is said to be weighing the option of joining the Kitui senatorial race instead of the gubernatorial race.

Sources further allege that Ngilu is being convinced by Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to abandon her bid for Kitui governor seat and instead run for the senatorial seat.

According to well placed sources, Ngilu has been asked to support Malombe’s re-election as governor in the August polls.

In return, the former Lands CS has been promised an automatic ticket and full backing for the Kitui gubernatorial seat in the 2022 general election if she agrees to the proposal.

Sources allege that Ngilu is considering the proposal and is set to make a decision in the coming days.

Ngilu alongside Wiper Party chairman David Musila had declared interest to unseat Governor Malombe.

The former Lands CS said that she is the right candidate for the Kitui top job accusing the incumbent of failing to deliver services.

Ngilu who has the backing of women and youths had vowed to push for key reforms if elected governor.

Last week, Ngilu,  a former critic of Kalonzo announced that she will back the former Vice president presidential bid in the National Super Alliance (NASA).

Ngilu and Kalonzo have since buried their long time political hatchet vowing to work together henceforth for purposes of unity and development in Ukambani.

The former Lands CS  has since appealed to NASA to endorse Kalonzo as its presidential flag bearer.

It is not however clear on whether Ngilu will dissolve her Narc Party to join NASA with sources saying that she is ready to pen down a pre-election pact with the opposition.
