Machakos governor Alfred Mutua is trying to stand alone. He is creating more enemies faster than he is making friends. While there is nothing wrong to stand out in a crowd, Mutua should know that no man is an island.

He should form a solid base on which to stand. It is friends that form this base. Without friends, allies and comrades, a man is stripped naked and left to wonder alone like a wild cat.

After ditching his "mother" party Wiper, Mutua left without looking back like the proverbial prodigal son to start his own party, Maendeleo Chap Chap.

Machakos law makers affiliated to Wiper party have since distanced themselves from him. With county workers sometimes going without salaries as was witnessed with the recent doctors' strike, many have lost faith in his administration and "empty rhetorics."

As if that's not enough, he has directed senior county officials to work for 6 days without an iota of concern for those who worship on Saturdays.

Simply put, Mutua is frying himself in his own oil.
