Photo/Healthyme.comThe rate at which children are growing with absentee fathers is sickening. More and more men are absconding their duties of fatherhood owed to children. Women are left to play both roles and hope their children will turn out fine.
First and for most, you have to choose carefully who you are having a baby with. What are their goals and priorities in life? How stable are they to raise a kid? Do they live in their own house or do they stay with their parents? Guys staying with their parents do not make good candidates for fatherhood.
Secondly, analyze the guy’s commitment to you. His commitment to you is a reflection of his commitment to your kid should you have one. Is he looking to be in your life on a long term basis?
Have you met his parents? Are you the girl he is ready to settle with? A husband is looking forward to having a kid and raise a family, a boyfriend not so. A husband's decision to have a kid is a strategically planned one but a boyfriend's decision to have a kid most of the time is spontaneous.
The last question you have to ask yourself as a woman. Am I ready to be a single mom? That is a possibility you have to prepare for. Who is going to be the child's godfather?
A godfather is a man who plays the role of the father in a child's life. Talk to your mom and other moms you admire about the joys and challenges of motherhood.
Children are blessings and when they come, you embrace motherhood and give your child your best.
Whether plan or unplanned, do not be scared how you will raise them. Heaven has a way of taking care of its own. After all, children are gifts from God.
