Being politically correct is the biggest desire for the human race in this age. By definition, it is being unoffensive, nondiscriminatory, unbiased, neutral, appropriate and nonpartisan. But times have changed. In the 1970's something happened and with industrialisation came the age of freedoms. Freedom was the in thing in the 80's, 90's and it has been building up to this day. People have been pushing to be free to do as they wish as long as it does not harm others. Everyone wants full control of their lives. To make generic decisions regarding self. Good or bad.
As a result, things that were seen as abominable back in the day moved from abominable to frowned upon in the 70's & 80's and now acceptable in the 21st century. Homosexuality and other unnatural sexual orientations are now acceptable, abortion and atheism are now the norms. Anyone who holds highly conservative views is frowned upon and criticised bitterly. The age of political correctness is here with us. From a Christian perspective, with the new found freedoms, came the fire and brimstone preaching evangelists of the 60's, 70's and 80's. They told it as it is, not mincing their words and broaching subjects that today few Christians preachers have balls to tackle. Today, anyone who wants speaks in public in whatever forum has to prepare long and hard not to step on anyone's toes if he/she wants to remain politically correct or popular. It's like walking on egg shells and expecting not to break them. There still remains a few people who are conservative and who would like to stop all the unbridled "freedoms", so with the politically correct age brings with it, the age of activism whose sole purpose is to stop the ambitions of the conservatives.
Everyone today, armed with a social media account whose power is untold if the content can go viral, has an opportunity to agitate for whatever lunacy he or she fancies in the name of freedoms.
Moreover, there exists many organisations whose main goal is to further this insanity and many have made great a career as "agitators" earning well and making a living creating improprieties in the name of freedoms. As for dressing and culture, it has changed in no small measure. We have gone a full cycle. Since history have a way of repeating itself, does it mean we are heading back to the conservative age? Will all these freedoms become counter-productive and destructive?
