Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho's political adviser Idris Abdirahman has rubbished social media reports linking him to a drug trafficking and terrorism network.
In a Facebook post published on his page on Wednesday, Idris claimed that the reports were part of a wider plot by the Jubilee administration to "bring down" governor Joho.
"Certain individuals and groups affiliated with Jubilee Party have resorted to ill-advised and poorly executed strategies on social media, designed to malign my good name," he noted.
"We will neither be cowed nor intimidated by such schemes. We have only been inspired to work harder and make sure the Coast region is impenetrable to Jubilee," he added.
He was reacting to a tweet that alleged that he was sacked from the Kenya Defence Forces for allegedly engaging in drug trafficking.
Idris is said to be one of Joho's close aide, doubling up as the outspoken governor's political adviser and bodyguard following the withdrawal of Joho's security detail by the government.
