Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho could be trying to reach out to NASA leader Raila Odinga to support his 2022 presidential bid if yesterday's meeting between the former Prime Minister and Joho's Deputy William Kingi is anything to go by.
In a post on his Facebook page, Dr. Kingi said that he had held a meeting with Raila at his Opoda farm, Bondo where they discussed a wide range of issues including the successes of devolution.
Dr. Kingi further affirmed that Mombasa County is fully behind the famous handshake between Raila and Uhuru Kenyatta which has generated divided opinion among Kenyans.
Since the March 9 political deal, Joho has maintained an uncharacteristically low political profile having spent the better part of this year outside the country. With the handshake between Odinga and President Uhuru Kenyatta slowly shaping up 2022 politics, is Joho trying to lay a strategy for 2022 by winning Raila's support?
Dr. Kingi would later meet Kisumu Deputy Governor Dr Mathews Owili. With Raila and Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o having long political history, is Joho trying to reach out to the duo to back his 2022 state house bid? Well, time will tell.
