Days after Jubilee Party announced that it will field a candidate to unseat Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua in the August general election, its now emerging that the candidate could be former Kibwezi MP Kalembe Ndile.
According to sources, Ndile is among politicians who are being fronted by Jubilee to unseat Governor Alfred Mutua in the August election.
Sources intimate that Ndile plus several other Ukambani politicians who decamped from Wiper party last year have been approached to contest for the Machakos gubernatorial seat.
According to sources, several meetings chaired by Jubilee Party Ukambani regional coordinator Victor Munyaka have been held to pick a candidate that will battle it out with Governor Mutua in the August polls.
On Wednesday Munyaka who is also Machakos Town MP said that Jubilee Party will field a candidate for all seats in Machakos.
Munyaka during a press briefing at a local hotel in Machakos said a Jubilee candidate to contest against Governor Mutua will be unveiled soon.
“We have said that there is no way we are going to shelve our ambition for particular positions in favor of another party and that is why Jubilee Party will field a candidate to contest governor Alfred Mutua,” said Munyaka as quoted by the Star on Wednesday.
Kalembe who last year folded his TIP party to join Jubilee Party has declared interest in the Mavoko parliamentary seat.
It will be interesting to see on who Jubilee will endorse to contest for the Machakos gubernatorial seat that incumbent Mutua has vowed to defend at all costs.
