The 2017 polls are fast approaching and the most sort after seat in Nairobi is the governor's seat. The incumbent Governor Evans Kidero is facing stiff competition from the likes of people like Water CS Eugene Wamalwa, Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru, former Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru, TNA chair Johnson Sakaja, former National Assembly Speaker Kenneth Marende and Nairobi Senator Mike Senator. In a move aimed at uniting all Jubilee gubernatorial aspirants raised concerns when only two out of the six availed themselves. Wamalwa and Wanjiru are the only ones who availed themselves. The others convened in Serena Hotel and discussed on a move to work together in a bid to oust Evans Kidero. Leading the Nairobi County MPs in Norfolk Hotel, Starehe MP Maina Kamanda said he was surprised that the absence of the various aspirants spelt doom for the party's nomination for Nairobi gubernatorial seat. “We, as Nairobi MPs, invited all the Jubilee gubernatorial aspirants, but only two out of the six turned up. The aim of the meeting was to assure them that they are all equal and according to us, we all should work together towards achieving the same goal,” said Kamanda.Does this spell doom for the Jubilee party in Nairobi politics? Many legislators have been vocal in denying that no one will get the Jubilee ticket through endorsement. All the aspirants have declared to do their best in ousting Kidero come 2017 and if not clearly checked, Nairobi gubernatorial aspirants on Jubilee ticket may be split and seek for new parties to realise their dreams if they fail to get the Jubilee ticket. The two meetings held at separate hotels may lead to big divisions in Jubilee party politics in Nairobi and this will give Evans Kidero an easy time to defend his seat.
