The fact that Kanu joined Cord in anti-IEBC protests on Monday was an indicator of a new-found friendship between the two parties and that the friendship may go way beyond the current string of protests to the 2017 poll.

In a statement, the Kisumu Senator praised the input by Kenya's oldest political party in pining the opposition in championing for the removal of the Isaack Hassan-led IEBC from office before the next election.

He said those who share the same ideals stand a chance of working together in the next general election, which is an indicator that the two parties are working hand in hand to form a coalition in readiness for 2017.

"If we continue to develop a common agenda like we are doing at the moment, nothing stops us from working together in the next general election," said Prof Nyong'o on Tuesday.

Kanu Secretary General Nick Salat shares the same view as he said that his party will consider forming a political alliance with a like-minded political party in readiness for 2017 as a way to remove the current leadership from power.
