Kenya meat commission, KMC in Athi River is one of leading meat factory in Kenya.
It employs thousands of Kenyans and supplies meat and meat products across the country. One of the leading media companies reported this week that Kenya meat commission is struggling to stay afloat.
What could be ailing the meat company? Normally, when a company is on the verge of collapsing, it will resort to laying off of workers to salvage the situation, especially if it is wallowing in financial crisis.
The same strategy is being used in Kenya airways authority as it tries to remain afloat. KAA announced that it will lay off 600 workers in a bid to stabalize the aircraft company.
"Kenya meat commission has 88% contracted employees whose contracts have expired," one of the employee, who requested to remain anonymous, told this writer on Friday.
Is KMC planning mass layoff of employees? Employees of KMC are worried of the next move the management is likely to take.
