Makueni governor Professor Kivutha Kibwana recent warning to Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka to tame some of the party politician's could be a hint of him planning to work with Jubilee in 2022.
According to political analyst Peter Ngure, Kibwana could be an easy target for Deputy President William Ruto’s team planning his 2022 presidential bid.
Ngure says that Kibwana’s Sunday statement is politically symbolic and could be hinting at his next political move.
This political pundit observes that Kibwana who is serving his last term as governor could make a surprise move ahead of the 2022 general election.
“Governor Kibwana has been a close ally of DP Ruto and one cannot rule out the possibility of him making a shocking u-turn to support the DP’s 2022 bid,” he said on Wednesday.
Ngure notes that DP Ruto could take advantage of the Kamba leaders disunity to seek governor Kibwana’s endorsement.
He adds that Kibwana commands a huge Kamba following and his political decision could make an impact in the 2022 succession politics.
The analyst observes that Kalonzo now has a lot of work to do in uniting Ukambani leaders.
“Kalonzo should take note of Kibwana’s statement and bring his house in order or all the same forget about 2022,” he said.
Kibwana folded his Muungano party in the run-up to last year’s general election to join Wiper party.
The Makueni governor is Wiper party’s national chairman and was part of the Kamba leaders who recently endorsed Kalonzo’s 2022 presidential bid.
