[Photo: standardmedia.co.ke]Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago has hinted that he may be seeking the country's top job come 2022.If Mandago is re-elected in August 8 poll, he will be serving his last term as governor as the constitution limits governors to two five-year terms.Mandago who was on Wednesday endorsed by NASA could be sending a strong signal to DP William Ruto amid claims that he is supporting his arch-rival in the gubernatorial race on an independent ticket Zedekiah Budotich (Buzeki)."NASA knows in future I may be a serious candidate for the top seat. They do not have a candidate for governor here, but they know my good work and that is why they have said I should get another five years," Mandago said on Thursday when he met members of the Somali community in Eldoret. On June, Mandago, MPs Oscar Sudi (Kapseret) and Alfred Keter (Nandi Hills) threatened to urge the Kalenjin community in Uasin Gishu to support the opposition to protest against Buzeki’s bid for governor.Mandago said he would urge his supporters to vote for NASA if 'the other communities residing in Eldoret, especially the Kikuyu, decide to vote for Buzeki'.Mandago, however, noted that he is in Jubilee to stay and that NASA leaders are within their democratic rights to back him.Other political heavyweights from the region who have expressed likelihood of vying in in 2022, include Deputy President William Ruto and Baringo Senator Gideon Moi.
