Maseno School shocked the country when it acquired for itself a Mercedes Benz bus that costed them millions.
The academic giants were the talk of the country after buying the German machine as they were the first and the only institution in the country to own such an expensive bus.
Despite buying the bus that is white in colour with the Mercedes Benz logo on both sides, the Education Ministry had issued a directive to paint all the school buses in the country yellow through the outgoing Education Cabinet Minister Fred Matiangi.
Despite many schools in Nyanza painting their buses yellow after the Ministry's directive, the Maseno School's German machine has not yet been painted yellow and still has the original white color it was bought with.
This has raised mixed reactions with a section of people asking if Maseno School is above the law now that they own a fancy bus. One user on Facebook by the name Arafat Mentor posted:
"Maseno School bus spotted in Kisumu still in white. Does it mean some schools are above the law? I see laws are made for the less fortunate. All the same a Mitsubishi and a Mercedes Benz in traffic are all equal!"
Another Kenyan, Moses Waweru reacted on social media:
"Schools going yellow while Maseno School bus still remains unpainted. We miss you Matiangi!"
Speaking to a Hivisasa writer, Maseno School Principal Mr Andrew Odhiambo said that the bus will conform to the regulations soon.
"No one is above the law. We are law abiding citizens. We just need more time to sort out everything.Give us more time," he said.
