Through his Twitter account, Ali posted a screenshot of an advertisement by the Standard Media Group calling upon qualified investigative reporters to submit their applications for a chance to work at the station.

However, Ali's caption to the photo left a majority of followers confused in regards to his future at the media outlet.

“It is time for the youths to come on board so that we can hand over the mantle. We have grown old,” Ali captioned the photo.

Ali's words could as well mean that he was leaving the station.

If Ali will be quitting, many might interpret it as preparation to join the political scene during the 2017 general election.

It is highly speculated that the Jubilee government critic is planning to vie for the Nyali parliamentary seat on an ODM ticket in a bid to unseat the incumbent Hezron Awiti.

Ali is considered as one of the best investigative reporters to grace the Kenyan media industry and his exit might be a blow to the investigative reporting field.
