In the political cycles, the protocol observation has always been the mark of seniority and clear demarcation on who is who.
On Wednesday, during the signing of a political pact between opposition leaders to work as a unified outfit under the National Super Alliance, if the protocol is anything to go by then it's clear to Kenyans who will host NASA's flag.
Political pundits have been kept guessing on who will be NASA's flag bearer after the signing of the deal didn't yet reveal who will face President Uhuru Kenyatta on August 8th.
From a hypothetical point, the most senior politician is always accorded the opportunity to have the last word.
Indeed it was clear for all to see that Bungoma Senator Moses Wetangula was the first to address and even read NASA's official statement, he later welcomed ODM party leader Raila Odinga, who set the pace for Wiper's Kalonzo Musyoka.
Kalonzo welcomed Amani national Congress leader Musalia Mudavadi who gave a final address at the political pact.
A photo is also trending on twitter trying to speak on the body language of the four principals. In the photo Mudavadi is seen as the most excited man after the signing.
However, it will be prudent to note that politicians are good at what they do and it is possible that the protocol that was used to address Kenyans at the signing ceremony may be a ploy to hide the real flagbearer from public scrutiny at the moment.
Could it be possible that a Mudavadi-Kalonzo candidature is cooking in NASA's kitchen, with Raila Odinga as Chief Minister and Wetangula as Speaker of the national assembly?
