Speculations are emerging that Machakos senator Johnson Muthama will contest for the Nairobi senatorial seat in the August 8, polls.
According to sources, an agreement has reached for Muthama to shift from Machakos to Nairobi politics.
Sources intimate that the decision has been agreed upon by NASA and Wiper officials.
According to sources, the move is meant to make NASA active in Nairobi politics. It is said that Muthama will contest the Nairobi senatorial seat on a Wiper ticket.
Speaking on Monday during an interview with Musyi FM, Muthama did not accept or deny the speculation saying that talks are in place.
The Machakos senator however cleared the air on claims that he plans to bolt to Raila Odinga's ODM Party.
Muthama said that he is in Wiper Party to stay.
Muthama an ally of Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka has been missing in Wiper party key events with claims that he has fallen out with Kalonzo.
The Machakos senator has often been criticized and accused of favouring ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Muthama who sits in the NASA technical committee has been accused of lobbying for Raila and not Kalonzo Musyoka’s presidential bid.
Speculations of fall out between Muthama and Kalonzo have been evident and it is believed that Kalonzo has endorsed People Trust Party leader Mutua Katuku to contest for the Machakos senate seat.
Political analyst Peter Ngure observes that it will be strategic if NASA endorses Muthama for the Nairobi senatorial seat.
He says that Muthama has been vocal and advocate of NASA and endorsing him for the Nairobi senator seat will make NASA visible in the city politics.
