Mr Namwamba said he accords Mr Odinga the respect he deserves as one of Kenya's most decorated political leader.

"There is absolutely nothing personal between me and Raila Odinga," he said in an exclusive interview with a local television station on Thursday.

"He is a political father and my relationship with him will always remain that warm, the relationship of father-son and that is not likely to change."

Namwamba two months ago quit his position as ODM Secretary General citing frustration by some party executive members.

He said some senior ODM top brass were unhappy seeing him transform the party.

After quitting, he held a series of rallies in Western Kenya, a region perceived to be an ODM and Mr Odinga's stronghold.

He also held meetings with political leaders from Coast region another zone that overwhelmingly voted for Mr Odinga during the 2013 general election.

"There is nothing to say that whatever political formation we have put in place cannot associate with Cord or associate with Raila Odinga as a political leader," he said.

"So there is absolutely nothing personal here. It is not that we are engaged in any personal vendetta or personal war. It's just a question of political choice."

Namwamba sailed through to Parliament during the 2013 general election on an ODM ticket.

He is serving as Budalang'i MP for a second term after triumphing against former Budalang'i MP Raphael Wanjala in 2007.

In the run-up to the 2013 polls, he was among a team of youthful opposition leaders who traversed the country marshaling support for Mr Odinga.

His fall-out with ODM began in 2014 during ODM's bungled primary elections in Kasarani when the famous men in black disrupted the exercise.

At the time, he accused some leaders from the orange party of disrupting the elections. He was then vying for the party's secretary general position.

It was after the incident that his relationship with ODM top brass crumbled.
