[Photo: thebigissue.co.ke]The Government spokesman Eric Kiraithe has told off the opposition, NASA over allegations that the ongoing 'police brutality' during anti-IEBC demos is only targeting members of one particular community.Kiraithe, speaking to KTN News on Tuesday evening, said that police cannot be deployed where there is no violence."You will not see police in Murang'a when violent protests are going on in Kisumu. This issue of the so-called ethnic profiling by the police is neither here nor there. It is just meant to excite emotions and incite more lawlessness and disorder in some of these areas," Kiraithe said.He said that cases of brutality will be exhaustively investigated and Kenyans told of the results in due course.Kiraithe, however, exonerated the Police from some of the incidences they have been accused of insinuating that some unnamed people could be behind some of these 'brutalities' to tarnish the police image."Who is this criminal hurling tear gas at nursery schools? Is someone acting to demonise the police? Where are these criminals trying to demonize police officers getting resources from? Who is this on the sideline of the riots injuring two-year-olds? In whose interest?" asked Kiraithe. He also rubbished a recent report by the Kenya National Human Rights Commission showing increased extra-judicial killings by police since August 8 saying that 'some of these human rights bodies are funded by taxpayers to improve their lives and Kenyans should be concerned when they come up with unfounded allegations'.
