The North Rift Economic Bloc (NOREB) chairman Jackson Mandago has dispelled fears that the bloc is headed for a collapse.
This follows a recent move that saw two counties, Nandi and Trans Nzoia, that form part of NOREB join a recently launched Lake Region economic bloc.
Speaking in Eldoret town on Friday, Mandago who is also the Uasin Gishu Governor said NOREB is intact.
Mandago said he had not received any formal communication from the two counties indicating that they had bolted out.
"As far as I am concerned, NOREB is still in place and we are striving to achieving our target which is to spur the regions economic growth and improving locals livelihoods," Mandago said.
"I have not received a letter from the two counties saying they are no longer part of us," he added.
The governor who is serving his second term in office however said any county has a right and freedom to align with any region as long as it benefits the people.
Noreb was formed about three years ago and consists of eight counties in the North Rift region which are Uasin Gishu, Nandi, Trans Nzoia, Elgeyo Marakwet, Baringo, West Pokot, Turkana and Samburu.
