Just five months to the next general elections, President Uhuru Kenyatta has reignited the 2007/8 post election violence debate.
This time, accusing Opposition leader Raila Odinga of being at the centre of the political unrest nine years ago.
Speaking during a political rally in Kisii Town on Wednesday, the head of state accused the former premier of promoting ethnicity at the time leading to violence.
“He promoted politics of what he called '40 tribes against one'. Now, he is talking about '40 against two',” President Kenyatta said.
"Raila has again started inciting Kenyans as he did in 2007 thus framing DP William Ruto. He is the one who ignited the fire," he had.
He further cautioned the Opposition against dividing Kenyans on tribal lines, noting that such politics could polarize the country ahead of the August polls.
"Kenyans are not ready to enter into chaos again because of politics. Raila and NASA are taking Kenya back," he noted.
Mr Odinga has since rubbished the claims by President Kenyatta.
The poll violence left at least 1,300 Kenyans dead and more than 600,000 internally displaced.
