The former prime minister, popularly known as an enigma of Kenyan politics, sparked many questions after meeting retired President Daniel Arap Moi on Thursday. Moi and Odinga have been arch rivals for decades. Could Raila be seeking Baringo Senator Gideon Moi’s support as we head into another presidential election?

Gideon Moi has already declared his interest in the nation’s top seat. The vocal senator has been a thorn in the flesh of Deputy President William Ruto. Moi is determined to bring down Ruto, who is poised to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Raila’s recent meeting with former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo could suggest that he is seeking for ways to win the Kikuyu vote. The Kikuyu community is the most populous in the nation and winning it's support can be a great boost.

However, history shows that this community is unlikely to support his candidature when that time comes. The Luo political kingpin has been moving from one part of the nation to another meeting leaders and envoys. He also happened to meet Gatundu South Moses Kuria days after his truce with President of Kenya.

In conclusion, Raila could be scouting for a running mate from Kalenjin or Kikuyu community. His moves have left many politicians dreaming of ascending to power. The opposition leader could be mending fences with his past enemies in order to remain relevant in the political arena or retire peacefully. His differences with other NASA principals have changed the political landscape of the nation ahead of 2022.
