Machakos Senator Johnstone Muthama has rubbished reports by a section of the media indicating that he is plotting to leave Wiper Democratic Movement Party.

In a telephone interview with the Sunday Nation, the legislator maintained that he was firmly in the party, adding that he will be seeking re-election on its ticket during the forthcoming general elections.

“You defect from a party when you have no ticket. I have nomination papers from Wiper. I have never been mistreated in Wiper, so why should I jump to another party?” he noted.

He, however, accused the Wiper Party top leadership of overseeing flawed primaries in parts of Ukambani region, claiming that the process was marred with massive irregularities.

Earlier reports had also suggested that the senator is having a frosty relationship with Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka over the leadership of the party.
