Each and every community is fighting for space and a way to be heard. There has been a major struggle between notable communities like the Kikuyus, Kalenjins, Luhyas and Luos each struggling to produce their own as the head of state.

This has led to ethnicity issues in Kenya for a long time and it has been a major hurdle for peace in Kenya.

Recently President Uhuru and Raila agreed to work together for the sake of peace and nation building. Many political pundits have seen this as a major step in eliminating ethnicity which has held Kenya hostage for decades.

The handshake served to bring together the Luos and the Kikuyus who have always been at each other’s neck where each is trying to make their man the president of Kenya.

In another perspective, can the handshake really solve ethnicity for once and for all in Kenya? The handshake served to bring two major antagonist that is two communities and their ethnicity might come to an end.

The handshake can also create another ethnicity battle between the Kalenjins, Luhyas, Kambas, Kikuyus and other tribes if inclusivity in the handshake is not taken into consideration.

The likes of Dp Ruto, Kalonzo Musyoka, Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula should be given a chance in the negotiation table of President Uhuru and Raila.

Each one of them will have the opportunity to raise and point out their concern and bring in their contributions.

The only way for the handshake to work is for inclusivity to be adhered to and if not, Kenya will only be led back to the circle of ethnicity for more decades to come.
