[Photo/nation.co.ke]Gatundu South residents took to the streets yesterday to demonstrate their anger over rumours that a syndicate trafficking infants is operating in the area.This is after an elderly woman was accused of trying to sell the infant of her mentally-handicapped daughter.Gabriel Kitili, Gatundu South Children's officer, said that the infant had been taken into government custody for protection.He revealed that the infant was being held at the Gatundu Level 5 Hospital where it is receiving specialised care.''The mother is in a dire situation and the mental condition of the mother is not conducive to the upbringing of the infant,'' Mr. Kitili said.Police are investigating the rumours of a child-trafficking syndicate.
