Winnie Kaburu Kinyua, who deputised former Education Principal Secretary Prof James Ole Kiyapi in the last elections, has declared she will go for the top seat in next year's elections.

The former Build and Restore Kenya (BRK) Party deputy leader pledged to transform Kenya to a more vibrant and productive nation free of corruption, negative ethnicity and bad politics if elected.

She castigated the current regime of politicians saying they have failed to deliver to Kenyans what they pledged to.

"Kenyans have been shortchanged by the leaders they chose in 2013 as they have failed to execute what they had pledged to undertake," said Kinyua.

Kinyua who is yet to reveal the political outfit she will use in the 2017 polls said youth and women empowerment is on top of her agenda.

She said although they form the largest segment of the country's population, their expectations have been sidelined by the current leadership.

Kinyua, who hails from Meru County, is a graduate of Political Science from the University of Nairobi.

The businesswoman-cum politician was in 2003 awarded a Head of State Commendation by former President Mwai Kibaki for her work in developing and promoting the business community.
