With no known Twitter account and limited social media presence, Nyando MP Jared Okello is a difficult man to understand. However, this could be his biggest political tactic even as he aims to establish his dominance in Kisumu politics.
Many reckon that he is the future of Kisumu politics. And with Governor Anyang' Nyong'o soon exiting the political stage as age is catching up with him, Okello could be destined to political greatness.
After operating in the shadows of Kisumu Senator Fred Outa in Nyando politics in the past, the MP could be out to prove that he is that stone that the builders rejected but ended up becoming the corner of the house.
A regular political analyst on TV, Okello is such an eloquent debator and this could be his biggest asset. With is influence in ODM rising following his recent appointment to be the director of economic affairs, the son of Kano may become unbeatable in Kisumu politics.
It may be too early to start comparing him the county veterans like Nyong'o and Outa, but the MP's approach to politics may serve his political objectives going forward. But first, he will have to keep his rivals at bay.
