When Raila began his journey to the disputed August polls, he shore up the confidence of his ardent supporters by promising them biblical heaven. In fact, he declared himself to be Joshua reincarnate who would deliver the children of Israel from Pharaoh Uhuru.

This dream was temporarily halted when Uhuru Kenyatta 'won' the August poll. Yet Raila was convinced that the journey to Canaan was unstoppable. He likened the loss to the brief moment in the wilderness where the Israelites got lost for a moment and urged his fanatic supporters to set sight on the imminent journey to the land of milk and honey.

Raila had a hidden plan; he placed a supplication before the great Judge Maraga. Like Judge Azdak of Bertolt Brecht's 'The Caucasian Chalk Circle', Maraga chose to save baby Michael by declaring the election 'null and void'.

Their believe in the journey to Canaan was redoubled. NASA faithful had a new sense of optimism. They knew that indeed Joshua would ensure that they would reach Canaan speedily.

As the 26th October poll came close, Joshua Raila realized that it would not be easy to fit into the large shoes left behind by Moses. He jumped ship and declared that he would not grant Uhuru the chance to defeat him. Instead, he chose to allow Uhuru to defeat himself, an event that would be spoilt by poor Chebukati when he allowed one Aukot to join the race.

This begs the question: is the NASA dream dead? Is this the last time we will hear of Raila?

It is a wait -and- see game as we ponder Raila's next move. One thing is clear though: Raila is a wounded Lion. A wounded Lion is dangerous as it may decide to die, like Samson, with all the Philistines in the house.
