For a long time, there has been speculation saying that AFC Leopards assistant coach Tom Juma is a biological son of the club's legend Mzee Noah Wanyama.
The rumour has been dominant in Eastlands where older residents cite Juma's stark resemblance to Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama.
In Kaloleni, a resident quoted by The Nairobian insists there must me a genetic relationship between Mzee and the coach.
“Many people here believe that Tom and (Victor) Wanyama are biologically related. They could actually be brothers. Have you seen how they look alike?”
But Mzee Wanyama has laughed off the talk saying there is no relationship between him and the Ingwe tactician.
“I think people look at how Victor Wanyama and Tom Juma walk, plus their talent and then conclude that they are brothers. No. What I know is that we come from the same county - Busia - and we are great family friends,” the jovial Mzee said.
On his part, Juma himself has dismissed the 'rumour' but said he will go do his research.
“I will do my research but I’m sure haiwezikuwa (we can’t be blood brothers),” he said.
“I have heard people say we look alike. Sasa wacha mimi, my younger brother who plays for Mathare United (Musa Oundo) is even worse (sic) (meaning his brother is a spitting image of Wanyama). He even plays in the same position."
