After their bitter fallout in March that culminated in the ouster of Moses Wetangula as Senate Minority leader by the dominant Raila Odinga-led ODM party, is the Bungoma Senator about to suffer another blow?
Well, the recent political developments is perhaps a telltale sign that the Ford Kenya leader is about to lose his party's only elected MP in Raila Odinga's Luo Nyanza stronghold.
Kisumu Town West MP John Olago Aluoch is the man who has stood with the beleaguered Bungoma Senator since 2013 when he defended his seat on a Ford Kenya party ticket before using the same outfit as his political vehicle during the 2017 contest. However, after Raila-Wetangula fallout, the veteran MP is seemingly keen to chart his political future away from Ford Kenya.
He has been conspicuously missing in many Ford Kenya functions and has forged a close working relationship with ODM MPs.
Just to confirm this, on Tuesday, Olago who is serving his third term joined a group of ODM MPs from Nyanza in opposing the bill before Parliament that is keen to bar politicians aged over 70 years from contesting for the presidency, the bill they claim is targeting Raila.
"Age should not be an issue at all. What we need to do is to cap the Presidential term or tenure for individuals seeking to occupy the office," said the lawmaker.
Is Olago on the move?
