President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto have left many Kenyans talking after photos of them visiting their respective rural homes emerged online.

The two can be seen interacting freely with local folks, with Uhuru captured seated in a mud house in Kiambu County together with the owner's family.

Ruto on the other hadn was at Maili Tisa in Uasin Gishu County where he could be seen enjoying ugali and chicken at a local grass-thatched hotel.

Though this was not the first time Uhuru and his deputy were pulling such 'surprises', as expected, both encounters left many Kenyans talking especially on social media.

Critics argued that the two leaders were just engaging in a Public Relations (PR) gimmick which they say the two have perfected.

They say the intention was to attract attention and publicity and even went further to accuse them of stage-managing the whole thing.

On the other hand, supporters couldn't read anything more or less of 'humility' by the country's top leaders.

So, was this 'just another PR exercise' by Uhuru and Ruto or was it a genuine show of 'humility' which was unplanned for and impromptu? A renowned PR expert and Image Consultant Robert Burale seems to go for the latter.

Burale who spoke to Citizen TV on Monday said that the two had managed to present themselves as 'truly humble' leaders irrespective of the intention it was meant to achieve.

“Whether this was PR or not there is one thing that you cannot dispute, whatever message the President and his deputy wanted to pass, they had managed to do it successfully," said Burale.
