The recent political truce between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Opposition Leader Raila Odinga may end up producing many casualties in the murky world of politics.
Whereas many MPs and politicians from Odinga's Nyanza backyard have embraced the famous handshake, Kisumu Town West lawmaker Olago Aluoch has openly questioned it.
Just recently, at the height of the controversy surrounding the citizenship of lawyer Miguna Miguna, the veteran MP poked holes into the handshake even as he wondered why the self proclaimed National Resistance Movement (NRM) GeneraL should be subjected to harsh treatment if the Uhuru-Raila deal is genuine.
"Up to now, the terms of the handshake are not known," said the lawmaker as quoted by the Nation.
Considering the past history of Luo Nyanza politics, criticizing Raila is suicidal and those who did it faced humiliation in the ballot.
To complicate Olago's political arithmetic is the recent fallout between Odinga and his National Super Alliance co-principal Moses Wetang'ula, who also happens to be Olago's party leader.
The MP is the only one in Kisumu county who was elected on a Ford Kenya ticket, and the current political bad blood between Raila and Wetangula will only mean that Ford Kenya will be locked out of Nyanza and Olago may be the first victim.
